“The new expansion will forever change the World of Warcraft.”

Blizzard Entertainment introduced their first game in 1994, Warcraft Orcs & Humans. They followed up with several games that tied in with the original, keeping the storyline flowing. Then in September of 2001 They announced the release of, “World of Warcraft”. It was released in November of that year, the 10th anniversary of the franchise. This was the beginning of a world that would change gaming forever.

The game was a success, growing to an astounding millions of players over the next seven years. Then in 2007 they released the first expansion, The Burning Crusade. This expansion introduced new character classes such as blood elves and a new alien class called the Draenai. The new release was a success, adding more players to the rising king of multi player games.

Then in November 2008 they released yet another power packed expansion, “ Wrath of The Lich King”. Proving that yet again Blizzard had what it takes to stay on top of the game. This new expansion gave the players an entire new continent to explore, and a new hero class to explore it with called Death Knights. This new class of hero would redefine the game and dominate every enemy it crossed for the next year.

On September 21 2009,  at the peek  of BlizzCon 09, a convention for for fans, Blizzard announced another change in the World of Warcraft chain, a new expansion set to release early 2010 which goes by the name of Cataclysm. The following is a quote from the World of Warcraft website on the new release. “Hidden away in his sanctuary within Deepholm, the corrupted Dragon Aspect Deathwing has waited, recovering from the wounds of his last battle against Azeroth and biding his time until he can reforge the world in molten fire. Soon, Deathwing the Destroyer will return to the surface, and his eruption from Deepholm will sunder the world, leaving a festering wound across the continents.”

The new expansion will forever change the World of Warcraft. Introducing new playable races such as the Worgen, a race of feral wolf-beasts, and the now playable Goblins, originally the slaves of jungle trolls, now free and usable by players worldwide. Also players will be able to learn new talents and abilities as the level cap is increased to 85.  All of the current zones or lands will be drastically changed, some even split into, making exploration of old realms a new treat for players. There will also be the introduction of two new realms to explore, Gilneas, which is located on the peninsula south of Silverpine Forest and The Lost Isles off the coast of Kalimdor,  a land where they will discover that the  many mysteries and more than a few unpleasant surprises.

Now with over 6 million players world wide, a populated online world set in its gaming ways, how will the players adjust to the changes? With excitement and awe as they enjoy new race and class combinations, or will they get frustrated? Maybe the new access of flying mounts in lands where it was once not available will quince the frustrations by making access more available. With new PVP (player vs player) zones, battlegrounds, and professions the players will be to consumed with the fun that is the World of Warcraft. Large battles and new quest’s await any who will dare ,in the coming release February 2010.
