Burning Life 2009 launches highlights of creative expression in Second Life™. While it is my belief that all creative expression is valid and valuable in a world that hastens to demerit art, there are definitely some virtual artists who transcend expectations and stand well out of the crowd in terms of the building (scripting & texturing) skill and ingenuity.
One such Artist is Bryn Oh.
A previous installation by Bryn was hosted on the IBM Sim and titled “The Rabbicorn”. The whimsical piece was a sublime example of immersive art, where avatars were lead through the installation on a poetic adventure, plucking pieces of the story from each vignette written by its multi-talented creator. For Burning Life 2009 Bryn has embarked on another incredible sensory sensation titled “Vessels Dream”. This 2678 prim build challenges the participant to explore every nook and cranny to discover amazing visual vignettes. You must be adept at navigating your camera controls as these locations lie hidden like treasures throughout the build. (For PC users, this is done by holding down the CTRL and ALT buttons and using your mouse to navigate). It is not an easy thing to do for new users which may limit the experience for some.
In response to that criticism, Bryn comments “Some people like my work for the challenge and discovery, the hidden parts and the need to click on things, I built this for those people.” *
Diplomatically, the artist has provided a full tour with strikingly vivid machinima here for the navigationally impaired (present writer included). http://www.blip.tv/file/2701783/
If you have never visited a creation by Bryn Oh, my best advice is to click everything. The entire creation is interactive, taking you to external links for stunning Machinima clips that build on the unique and unforgettable experience.
