Minecraft creator Markus “Notch” Persson announced this morning from his twitter that he has been busy “developing epicness for minecraft!” He followed this news up by tweeting pictures of what this epicness consisted of, and low and behold the early version of a dragon flying through the Minecraft sky.

The dragon has not been textured yet, but judging by the screenshots, when one of these come out of hiding it looks like it could definitely be an epic event.

Minecraft users have been hoping for dragons to be added for quite some time, so this has sparked a flurry of hype. Notch has not offered much more information on the dragon, but we will stay tuned as the creator drops more hints.

Minecraft is scheduled for an official release date of November 11th, 2011 (11/11/11) but creator Notch has said “Minecraft is never going to be complete. That’s part of the charm.”

After a few hiccups and delays, Minecraft, the pocket edition for Android is supposed to be released today, October 7th. According to one of the developers, you won’t have to wait much longer to begin breaking blocks with your phone.
