The universe is expanding; so is the Metaverse Tribune. Officially launched August 1st, 2008, the headline read, “Announcing a new, comprehensive source for news & entertainment from all the virtual worlds, the Metaverse Tribune. The ‘Trib,’ focusing on informative, objective, and breaking news seeks to bridge the gap between the virtual worlds.”
That has not changed. At that time the ‘Trib’ was the latest newspaper to launch online with a focus on virtual worlds such as Second Life. There were other publications and other worlds, but the only place that had any recurring news seemed to be SL. Kaneva, Entropia Universe, Open Life Grid, Twinity, There, and others that came and went — all had brief new cycles but did but not grow as fast or continue to improve with the pace that SL did. Some of these worlds still survive.
One of these others is InWorldz. It is there that the Tribune has set up a new store front; more precisely, Netera Landar has set up our store front. Netera has been nothing less than a spectacular, tireless advocate and scrounger for the Trib. And we mean that word “scrounger” as a high compliment. We can’t thank her enough. Her efforts have created a delightful little newspaper office in a small Victorian village called, Wistera Falls. The brick paved streets and clean layout of the town is very comfortable. The Tribune feels very much at home there.
The neighborhood is filling in, there’s a nice watering hole right across the street called, The Olde Time Tavern. Netera’s Lounge is another gathering place down the street from the Trib. There is a freebie shop called Wisteria Falls Freebies. Wisteria Falls is growing, so is InWorldz. In our neighborhood the rents are incredibly affordable.
On the next sim over from us is Rhapsody Plaza, a large well appointed shopping mall. There are still some store fronts available here and some fine looking homes for rent in Wisteria Falls. For information on starting your new business InWorldz at Rhapsody Plaza or renting a home in Wisteria Falls, contact Karmen Harris, InWorldz.
We invite you to download the InWorldz viewer, log in and “friend” us in this new virtual world where everything feels like it did when we were young.
The Trib will continue to cover events and news from inside Inworldz, as well as Second Life and other virtual worlds. For what we do; write, report on events, destinations, fashion, it is not so important the location, any location will do. What is important are the individuals; we have some excellent people writing for the Trib.
When the Trib began we had one writer, an editor, Runeswan Ceawlin, today we have 10 writers. This posting would be too long to talk about all of them, so over the next few weeks I will concentrate on two or three at a time. There may be some new ones joining us, as we are searching, always searching for new writers who can present their own unique view of the metaverse.
Next week we will start our Trib staff bois with the Fashion Editors.
