Hello. I am glad you stopped in.  I plan to amaze you, help you and give you some ideas on how to decorate and find those final touches for your home.  Also, I want to give everyone a glimpse into Second Life’s more prominent artists, business makers, and designer’s personal SL Home’s.

Let’s begin with one of our very own, renowned Talk Show Host, Netera Landar, has been interviewing a variety of artists in SL since the spring of 2009!  Netera graciously allowed us into her beautiful La Galleria Rose Manor Home!

We all are familiar with Netera’s distinct informative style, on “The Netera Landar Coffee Chat” and “What’s Cooking”; now she has opened her sanctuary for all of us to see!

We start off  being enamored by the striking contrast of large stone walls with beautiful hand blown glass doors and matching windows!

Walking into the living room of her spacious home, our eye is drawn to a detailed area rug with a bold red center as the focal point. We see a mix of contemporary furniture with Asian and Oriental table and cabinet.  Like this intricate ETC Dark Gold Antique Oriental Cabinet.   Woodcarving in China has a long history, with picturesque , concise, exquisite chiseling skills.  Based on customs and myths, its themes in general are classified into the following four categories: auspicious designs, figures for enjoyment, local people’s life style fowls and beasts, plants, vegetables and fruits that people are familiar with.

Modern furniture has been produced from the late 19th century through to today, it is a simplistic style designed for function and accessibility most people call it contemporary furniture.

Netera added an Oak fireplace that provides some contrast while complimenting this classic painting of Lady of Shallot by John Waterhouse 1888; adding definition to the room while the color choices compliment each other.

The screening room is adorned with a Chiman Fassbind Screen,  this could have been a tricky choice as we all want to have the movie picture experience in our homes, but it works well with the large scale windows and kept simple with the bookcase surrounding the screen as the only decoration on that wall.  With a comfy teal colored couch and the trusted family pets nearby the fun steam punk design of “Uncle Irvin” a fun loving interactive robot that was a gift to Netera in her Second Life travels.

Moving upstairs to her inner sanctuary we see Netera’s tasteful blend continues with Chinese themed bedroom furniture; a lovely, heavily lacquered cabinet, Black with Red Dragons carved in, this is considered to symbolize potent and auspicious power, called Dragon Cabinet by Sonatta Morales. This Cabinet works very well with the matching red bed cover, and intricately embroidered gold, and silver flowers on the pillows. It is simply stunning how she has taken the intricate workmanship of these pieces and matched them!

The Dragon in Chinese culture is normally seen as a long, scaled serpentine with four legs.  A symbol of power, strength and good luck, and can often be seen as a symbol of the Emperor of China’s imperial power.

Embroidery has a long standing history with various dynasties ruling Chins using high quality cloth and silk. There are four famous style of Chinese embroidery called Suzhou, Hunan, Guangdon and Sichuan.  Likewise Lacquer is another very important craft in China that includes 3000 varieties of lacquer ware craft items. With traditional techniques of inlaying, painting, etching, cover-coating, wrapping with jades and stones and breaking veins.

Carrying on to her writing room with Coral Bijar Rug by Mericatherine Qui, her ABE Table-top Desk with queen antique chair is uncluttered with Amphora Lamp.  I love how this room gives way to spectacular view of rolling hills that surround the south east side of her home.

Out and onto the balcony, we see classic Ming style furniture with simple, smooth flowing lines like this chair providing an elegant ornamentation; making an elegant balance with the breath taking view of a big blue sky. The Ming Dynasty rules China from 1368 to 1644, is considered to be “one of the greatest eras of orderly government and social stability in human history”1

Moving downstairs to the Kitchen and Dining Room modern designs and practicality are in focus with lots of room for having large parties.

Last but definitely not least is the sizable back yard with meditation area, and a variety of trees adding some privacy.

Now we know how Netera Landar, SL Host and Writer, (The Guardian, Altar of Freedom, and soon her 3rd book to be called Deadly Reservations) unwinds, writes and finds solace in her Second Life.
