A Great Deal of Color

Color is one of my favorite things to incorporate into an outfit.  Now, sometimes that means that I look like a rainbow when I first begin to put pieces together.  But, eventually everything starts to fall into place and a balance of neutrals and the perfect “pop” of color is achieved.

This month’s theme at Collabor88 is “Rain or Shine,” so you know immediately that finding a wardrobe-brightening garment is a given.  As usual, there’s a vast selection of brands represented, with endless possibilities for locating that just-right pop of color to complete your outfit.  The same holds true with other recent sale events, such as Fifty Linden Friday.  All you need are L$ in your pockets and a few minutes to browse through all of the tops… pants… shorts… dresses… skirts… shoes… accessories… jewelry….

The first outfit that I played with this week combines a bright yellow Tee*fy ruffled top and a faux leather- treated denim pant from Ison.  I’m a simple girl when it comes to shoes, so I stuck with one of my favorite pairs, also from Ison, because they flatter every outfit.

  • Skin: Glam Affair
  • Hair: Truth
  • Top: Tee*fy
  • Pants: Ison
  • Shoes: Ison
  • Bangle: Tee*fy
  • Pose: Marukin
  • Decor: Vespertine, Mud Honey, and Floorplan

This next outfit plays well against the sampling of my recent Fifty Linden Friday acquisitions from Floorplan and The Secret Store.  The room accessories consist of cute little baking tins that will add the suggestion of color to any kitchen decor.  And the apothecary chest is a terrific neutral option, should your kitchen already stand out with lots of bright hues, and you’re in need of a substantial  piece that won’t clash.

This bow dress from The Secret store speaks for itself.  The black detail gives the simple silhouette added shape, while it lengthens the body with the vertical line running right down the front.  Paired with these bright eyeglass frames, which I plan to wear more often, the look is classic and chic.  (Notice [above], that I’m wearing my favorite shoes because this week is all about the clothes!)

  • Skin: Glam Affair
  • Hair: Truth
  • Dress: The Secret Store
  • Shoes: Ison
  • Glasses: Soothe
  • Pose: Marukin
  • Decor: Floorplan

Last, but definitely not least, I drew my inspiration from the big cities of the USA.  A growing trend is the developing style of festival wear, which consists of sheer crop tops and high-waisted maxi skirts; more prominent as the summer draws nearer and festivals are much more prevalent.  I embrace this trend, not only because of the bright colors it entails, but also because high waists are flattering for many different body types.  You just can’t go wrong with a maxi skirt!

I’ll be volunteering at a RL festival later this summer, so I look forward to seeing how this style increases in popularity.  In the meantime, I will enjoy creating fashionable ideas in Second Life!

  • Skin: Glam Affair

  • Top: Fashionably Dead
  • Skirt: Fashionably Dead
  • Bra: Kyoot
  • Shoes: Ison
