Phat Cat’s s taken a night out to the next level. Located on the Phat’s Premier sim, adjacent to Phatland, home of Phat Cat’s Jazz Club, the recent opening of Phat’s Premier Jazz Club has started quite a buzz around Second Life.
An elite “members-only” venue, this destination offers a sleek, sophisticated and formal escape to dance the night away. Owned by Zorro “Z” Muliaina, the main building, constructed of a stone brick façade, features a majestic fountain as the centerpiece of the ballroom. Adding to the grandeur of the structure are floor-to-ceiling windows, draped with gauzy curtains that puddle gracefully onto the black tile floor, and a host of other architectural details that are superb and inviting.
During the Grand Opening, Venge, one of the managers, and hostess, Gabriella Armundsen, greeted guests as they arrived. Just as those first patrons experienced, before you complete your walk up the red-carpeted stairs at the main entrance, you’ll likely be greeted by one of the Phat’s Premier gracious hostesses.
Upon entering the club, you’re guaranteed to be amazed by its magnificence, just from the size and décor. The placement of the furniture and exotic plants have been thoughtfully planned out, to the last detail. Event calendars are posted in the building and around the sim, to keep members up-to-date on scheduled performers, DJs, and other events.
The open floor plan has been thoughtfully designed to provide plentiful space for guests to dance, sprinkled with numerous dance balls throughout the interior. You’ll find intimate seating, perfect for the moment you meet someone special and would like to just sit and talk while the pianist plays something undeniably romantic.
Among the many features awaiting Phat’s Premier guests, are a wood-grain bar with contemporary bar stools, cozy seating around the perimeter and near the grand piano, a stage to host the club’s live performers and DJs, and even a secluded lounge where a flute of champagne or glass of wine can be enjoyed. There’s even a pool table for the billiards enthusiast.
Should you choose to rest your dancing shoes, take advantage of the sim teleport system, and relax in the “Waterfall and Picnic area under the stars.” Just as its name suggests, there is a tranquil waterfall and comfortable blankets under a large shade tree.
More than just a picnic area, Phat’s Premier has a beautifully landscaped park that accounts for approximately half of the sim. Sufficient space to take a long stroll, or try another dance when you’re rested. Calling posts are conveniently located for those times of spontaneous romance and the need to move to the music.
Changing viewer settings to Sunset or Midnight makes the colorful aurora borealis appear more vividly. It’s visible all across the sim, even from the open-roof design of the Ballroom. Take pause and enjoy this natural phenomena that enhances the beauty of the SL night sky.
Not in the mood to spin around the Ballroom, but still want to spend time with your friends or sweetheart? You’ll find an assortment of movies available for your viewing pleasure at Phat’s Premier Theatre. Relax in the theater-style seating that can easily accommodate you and a date, or a small group of companions.
If you follow the boardwalk behind the main building, you’ll pass by a tall tree gently draped in a golden shimmering fabric. Continuing on until the lantern-adorned walkway ends, a massive luxury yacht is docked and awaiting passengers. Everyone is welcome aboard this cruiser, aptly named “Premier,” where a hot tub, comfortable chairs, and other amenities await. If you’re in need of a gift to surprise someone, check out the music box on top of the cabinet — there’s a gift-boxed version for sale on the shelf below.
Looking for a new evening gown or stylish tux to wear to your next visit to Phat’s Premier? You don’t need to venture too far away — next to the club is a shopping plaza designed to compliment the main building. Many top SL designers and clothiers for men and women have stores here: Violator, Marianela’s, Glamdiosa, Class A, Son!a, and more.
After meeting the avatar of your dreams at the club and romancing them to the sounds of jazz and old standards, you might think to take the next step and plan an SL wedding. This lovely sim is the perfect setting for your special occasion. With the glistening sea as a backdrop, the open-air wedding venue at Phat’s is elegantly decorated and well suited to accommodate you and your guests for the happy event.
What to wear? As posted, dress code for the Ballroom is formal attire, all other areas – the theatre, waterfall/picnic area, yacht, shops, etc., is “modest/tasteful casual.” The sim itself is rated with a maturity of “Moderate.”
The one-time membership fee of L$700 is Lindens well spent for anyone who appreciates a quality venue, exceptional entertainment, and top-notch retailers. Add to that an atmosphere of beauty and romance, and you have a destination that far exceeds what similar clubs boast.
Phat Cats Jazz Club, owned and operated by Stephano Zepp, and Phat’s Premier Jazz Club, founded, owned and operated by Z, will certainly find continued success in their respective venues.
